Investing Your HSA:

Balance Requirements:
To open a brokerage account, you must have a balance in your Health Savings Account greater than $2500.00. Once a brokerage account is opened, a minimum balance of $1,000 is required to be maintained in the corresponding HSA to cover fees and eligible healthcare expenditures.

If this balance is not maintained, an investment maintenance fee of $3.50 per month may be assessed until the account balance is increased over the minimum.

All trades will clear electronically through your HSA account:

  • You do not need to physically initiate the transfer of funds from your HSA to your investment account. Once you place a trade, your Health Savings Account will be automatically debited for the amount of your selected investment options, along with any associated fees. Sales proceeds in the investment account will also sweep back into your HSA automatically. This allows us to properly report your net HSA balance at the end of the year for tax purposes.
  • Please do not send checks or wire funds directly to National Financial Services, otherwise your transactions will not be properly recorded.

Click here to see a list of fees associated with your investment account. The Bancorp Bank does not assess a fee for account holders to participate in the investment service, unless they fall below the minimum requirement of $1,000.00 in their Health Savings Account.

Trade Assistance:

For customers who wish to place a physical trade over the phone in lieu of the online portal, a trading number is available. Representatives cannot provide investment advice*, but will place specific trades by request. This service is available at a cost of $8.00 in addition to the standard trade fee.
